Observation details
lifer! extremely orange face with extensive dark streaking down belly and into flanks. surprisingly cute and skittish. not vocal at all--possibly only calling chip notes in the several hours I was with it. "leaps" across reeds in short bursts of flight. extends neck up very high to peer at its surroundings. walks around also on ground in a somewhat silly way--almost grackle like. not nearly as blurry and pale streaking as Nelson's lifer last October. great great bird. at least two most likely three seen. extremely hard to photograph. does a lovely "hovering" flight slender elongated sparrow. very interesting feeling bird. walks like a henslows sparrow. but is more curious and comes out to look more often
