Observation details
What a way to start the season! Was informed by Pat Trask of the Courtenay Museum that the birds had arrived yesterday & the chimney cams were installed today. When I arrived at 6pm at least 50 birds were overhead, in a few minutes were several hundred. They continued circling the chimney then feeding over the river till sunset, then the first entered the chimney at 8:29, last in at 8:31. Total 81 seconds of birds entering , would normally count as 10 birds/second . After reviewing the video will go with 8 birds/sec.
