Observation details
Very rare breeder in Contra Costa county ( only two known records), the two breeding records are practically from the Mococo wetlands area ( a coalition of nearby hotspots: Waterbird Way pond, Mococo Rd. pond, Mountain View Sanitary District, Waterbird Regional Preserve, Point Edith, Wildlife Area (known also as Edith Marsh or Pt. Edith trail). It is also worth mentioning that the wetlands also include nearby private areas mostly inaccessible to observers, such as the so-called Pacheco Marsh, i.e. the area southeast and northeast of the Waterbird Regional Preserve, area mostly within the boundaries of the Tesoro Refinery.
