Observation details
Gray vireo with complete white eye ring and only a faint paleness in the lores, overall very drab, only one wing bar, throat border very blended, thick bill, fairly large body, tail long, short primary projection. Photos (more shared here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/216376860). Singing for about 10 min in short phrases / syllables but the Merlin app never tagged any vireo (I saved recordings). In overhead branches of mesquites N of McKale at 11:30 am. Not too shy. My first time encountering this species! And evidently its first time on campus— cool! Seems rather late for a migrant (other lowland Tucson spring records are all mid April), I've been finding several other late migrants lately.
