Observation details
*RARE, Casual!!! 3rd county record (1991 & 2003) Adult female molting into alternate plumage due to lack of orange on the bill and replaced scapularies. I initially noticed the bird from across the pond shortly after I arrived. I noted that the bird looked odd and waited till I got closer to identify. The first impressions I got from the bird were the brown color with a scaled appearance on the back, black drooping bill and bright yellow legs. In flight the ruff also exhibited the crescent shape on its rump. It didn’t fit any North American shorb I knew and ruff was the first Eurasian species I checked. I messaged Ezra H, and he arrived 15 minutes later to confirmed the ID. Photos Documentation to be submitted to MOURC
