Observation details
When I was at east end of Middle Harbor Trail near wetland I heard it calling in wetland and walked in but after a few times it quit calling as usual so I left. When I walked out of it I could hear a very faint "tink" call multiple times that I often hear from the prothonotary warblers. I walked about 100 ft west and finally found it up in a tree hanging over the canal of water that is just south of Middle Harbor creating a wetland. I tried to take a picture but couldn't find in viewfinder so had to look again and just as I was taking picture it flew out over Middle Harbor heading NNE. So I kept walking a little further as the wetland area extends a bit. I also saw one here a few weeks ago in trees and also down by the water in same area. Anyways, I walked west and sat on a large dead tree. Then I started hearing it again so I walked back and could hear it in trees along edge of wetland but could never see it again. Maybe this is one of those multiple dummy nests I read about. So later when I was at north end of Middle Harbor Trail where the path loops around that goes to wooden bridge I could hear another one calling on west side of swampy area west of pennisula. This seems to happen every year but you can't get close to whereever the cavity is. So when I was on pennisula I finally saw one on top of a couple dead trees west of pennisula that all the tree swallows are using. The other one wasn't calling so I can't say this was a different one. I went to wetland at north end of Middle Harbor that I hear it every year including this year but left after awhile when I didn't hear it. Sometimes it calls from trees west of wetland near the Captains parking area.
