Observation details
Completely slate gray bird with all black legs and bill. The head was lighter than the rest of the body and looked like it was in molt into a whiter color. When flying displays a white stripe on the trailing edges of secondaries with a black stripe in front of that. Very similar in size to laughing gull and I didn’t notice any difference in the field. Heerman’s Gull can be excluded by size and the solid black bill. Probably the continuing bird from Florida. The bird flew west by itself towards the other side of the canal.
