Observation details
Mostly seen on the ground or perched on structures near the Popeye's restaurant. It was eating discarded food scraps, chicken leg bone, Cheeto?. Saw it pull at black plastic trash bag, and even start to peck at some car window rubber (Kea?). Three ravens would mob it, and a few times it retreated under scaffolding at the strip mall with the laundromat, or the trash enclosure for Popeye's. We also heard it scold the ravens. Seemingly unafraid of humans, allowed close approach while picking apart a leg bone. It calmly stayed within 10 feet of a woman loading laundry at the trunk of her car. Supervisor of the Target construction job said he had seen it pick a pizza crust from the dumpster, it had perched on his car (he had a cellphone photo). He said that it regularly shows up to follow the trash trucks at about 9 am and follows them as they empty dumpsters in the area. We arrived at about 9 am and the bird had only recently been spotted by other birders who were there most of the morning. We watched it for the better part of an hour.b It would take off and then reappear within 10 minutes or so. Multiple photos attached.
