Observation details
Immature, perched on top of a rock. We could only see the head and the breast and thought for at first it was an Aplomado Falcon. Later on, I believed it was a juvenile Peregrine Falcon of the subspecies cassini, but in the end, analyzing the attached photograph, I must conclude it was actually a juvenile Variable Hawk. Creamy throat and upper breast, lower breast mottled with brown, dark brown cap with creamy superciliary and side of the neck, dusky bill, dull yellow at the base.
