Observation details
Recording only one bird, but suspect a second of the species was present as detailed below. First heard bird singing its simple, bug-like “zee, zee, zee” song at the SE corner of the cemetery. Upon approach, located the bird singing in a large hydrangea shrub beside the road where it sang intermittently for the next 1-2 minutes. As I headed back for my camera, the bird flushed across the road, into some deciduous saplings beside the barn, calling (sharp, high “tschip”) in flight. A second bird was heard giving similar sharp call notes directly within this same thicket. I spotted (presumably) the original bird perched just above a second small sparrow and then continued on for my camera/binoculars. When I returned, first bird was back in the hydrangea, singing in clear view. Although I photographed this bird, the second bird that had been across the road could not be relocated. The first bird sang from several vantages along the boundary of the cemetery.
