Observation details
I was surprised to see this pair of Loggerhead Shrikes in such an urban setting. There is a profusion of small brownish damselflies everywhere. The shrikes would swoop down from their perch, catch the damselfly in mid-air, and return to their perch with their prey. They would consume the damselfly whole, wings and all. This pair was there for the 3 days that I was in the neighborhood.
