Observation details
White thrush with brown crown and dark-brown streaks on throat and breast. Head roundish with pronounced markings including white eye brow and lengthy black streak through eye from bill to neck. Upperparts gray/brown through tail. Bird was foraging on back branch of blooming Palo Verde, partially obscured by layers of leafed out branches, approximately 20 feet away and 10 feet high above fountain in back yard in Vallecito. Best looks with binoculars were of bird’s head rising up above the branch while gleaning, until it stood up on the branch and began singing. Song was surprisingly LOUD and repetitive. Luckily, Merlin was able to capture a recording.
