Observation details
According to local residents this bird has been seen regularly in the area for at least 2-3 weeks, perhaps longer according to some. Appears not to be overly bothered by the attention of the 14 or so birders watching it today. First spotted in a large tree just S of the CVS Pharmacy on PCH. Yellow bare patch between eye and beak, thick and prominent black eye stripe behind eye and bluish-gray beak. Tawny chest, belly and undersides with dark brown wings. Approximately 16 inches in length. See photos.
