Observation details
Seen through scope on shoreline of Basin 3. Intially thought it was a black-bellied plover as it had a white border around a black face however continued views showed a gold speckled back, very dark underside through to the tail. The back of the bird was far too light on colour for BBPL. It appeared to be alone foraging the shoreline near some Dowitchers and other shorebirds. Chased into flight by a nearby coot when it took off the back was brilliantly speckled with gold and it’s tail and belly were dark. Poor photos due to distance and heat distortion.
