Observation details
Yellow feet and bill. Continuing bird seen in nearly the same location as this morning. As I said in my first post, I felt the bird was small like a Little Egret, but was struck by the yellow bill. The first day I did not see its yellow feet, but the photo I took of the bird before it flew showed the multiple short plumes on the back of its head/neck. Today, both in the morning and the afternoon, I observed it for a long time, saw its yellow feet, and took many photos and videos of the bird. What is striking about the Chinese Egret, in contrast to the other egrets, is that it is always alone and feeding on the mud flats and/or shallows of the Sago River. The bird was usually feeding in a somewhat active but straight-forward manner walking through the water. However, this afternoon I noticed a much stranger feeding behavior. It was almost spinning around and jabbing at the water for a short time. Unfortunately, it stopped that behavior before I could video it.
