Observation details
Great yard bird. Began singing right as the rain started, first with a few repetitive great crested flycatcher-like phrases before launching into the classic slow yellow-throated vireo song, followed by a single volley of alarm chatter. Sounded like it was singing from the street side, but as soon as I decided I would go to the balcony to look for it, the song came closer, and then I watched as a little yellow orb shot into the hackberry tree and began traversing its branches, gleaning insects. Gave close but usually obscured views as it foraged. Eventually vanished; did not see exit route. Upon reviewing calls later realized that this bird was responsible for a husky wren-like staccato trill call I heard slightly earlier as well. Species #115 for the location.
