Observation details
In cottonwoods south of the fourth sub-cell from the west (38.89444° N, 92.44392° W). This Black-billed Cuckoo was first heard calling and continued to call often and at length for more than 35 minutes, even while we were leaving the area. Playback should be avoided, especially because the bird may be on territory. If that's the case, a Yellow-billed Cuckoo might ultimately drive off the Black-billed Cuckoo. We can hope otherwise.
