Observation details
Heard calling from the top of the hill here: (42.4462762, -71.5495609). I went up to investigate, but it went silent. So, I found a shady spot, sat on the ground and figured I’d hear it again eventually. Next thing I knew, a male Bobwhite came sprinting out of the woods, ran over to me and hopped right up on my leg (!!!!!) I tried not to freak out as he eyed me with curiosity. He quickly got bored, hopped off and began foraging under a pine. I snapped a few pictures, and tried to leave him alone. He followed me for a bit, but eventually returned to his hiding place. Amazing Doolittle experience. I would advise visitors to give this bird some space, but honestly, he's a jovial little fella, and does not respect personal boundaries. Like, at all. Lifer.
