Observation details
Dark rich red-brown ibis with distinct cold gray face with pale framed lines traversing to the dark eyes without wrapping around them. Impression of a faint blue cast to the face/lines noted. Head and crown were darker than nearby White-faced and had a unique greenish glossy iridescence. Aqua greenish sheen to wings, back, tail, and flanks. Bill appeared perhaps a warmer pale hue than nearby White-faced. Leg color was not noted. Studied at length as it came in and out of view while foraging, resting, and preening in tall grass at the far southwest finger of the point. Later seen in flight after ski boat flushed them up. Full view of ibis showed dull grayish legs compared to reddish ones of White-faced. Andy was kind enough to let me barrow his scope to pick through the flock of White-faced Ibis upon which I found the Glossy. Then had better views later from the point using tall horseweed as a makeshift bird blind with Andy, and then later with Jeff and Janet. Photo'd.
