Observation details
Medium sized white-headed gull with a pale yellow eye, pink legs, and a pale yellow bill dark at the tip. Assessed to likely be third summer in age based on brownish tinge to the coverts and immature bill pattern. Mantle colour generally consistent with the Herring and Ring-billed Gulls. Overall body size was close to that of Herring Gulls, though bill and head sizes noticeably smaller. Underside of primaries pale with no markings. Upperside of primaries show a white leading edge, with somewhat diffuse grey interior markings growing darkest towards the tips. I believe this individual was photographed in much better detail by Sarah Lamond: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/618525443 and https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/618525443
