Media notes
Small section of Tricolored Blackbird colony on north side of Swan Lake.
Observation details
Amazing concentration. Estimated 400 along north shore of lake and 800 along south side--greatest concentration at west end of south side where marsh was widest. Saw several females carrying insects, so this colony seems to have started earlier than that at Puerta La Cruz. Birds were commuting back and forth to forage in nearby grassland and flying off to southeast to feed with cattle. Saw up to 200 at a time. in foraging flocks.
