Observation details
***Very rare; apparent 7th state record. I also had one later in the day in Niobrara, and there have been several reports from eastern CO over the past few days, so there must have been a modest push of this species W of its normal migratory route. I was finishing my loop through town when I saw this bird hopping on the ground below the line of junipers here (42.460673, -104.370337). It then teed up nicely on a brush pile before I lost it. Medium-sized thrush. Longish bill with extensive pale on the lower mandible. Cold gray face lacking the buffy eyering of a SWTH. Breast with fairly heavy dark spotting. Upperparts evenly brown throughout, from head to tail.
