Observation details
I was convinced that the female was the Blue-throated Mountain-gem we'd come to see, due to the rounded black tail with the white terminal band (narrow, but definitely a band, not a fringe) and what I perceived as two curving parallel white lines on the face, one a postocular streak and one a malar streak. Cindy was more dubious because the back was such a bright green and because the malar streak was less distinct than the postocular. We emailed her photos to the local eBird reviewer Molly Pollock, who identified the bird as a female Rivoli's.
