Observation details
This morning as I walked along the canal trail, I heard a Red-eyed Vireo like song except it seemed a little slow and little soft for Red-eyed Vireo. Additionally, the bird was low in the understory. Over the years I have learned these characteristics are suggestive of Philadelphia Vireo rather than Red-eyed Vireo. I worked on getting a visual of this bird, but it was on the other side of the canal which limited my options. However, after about 20 minutes the bird finally decided to investigate my spishing and it flew across the canal and landed in a tree above me and sat there and sang for sometime which enabled me to obtain a decent recording of its vocalizations and a few photos in less than optimal lighting conditions. The audio and three photos are attached.
