Observation details
Had a first time experience involving a close encounter with a Golden-Winged. I noticed a small bird foraging on the ground just ahead of me when I was able to identify it as a Golden-Winged. The bird flew up to a nearby tree across the trail from me and I almost forgot I had a camera. I took a couple of photographs but just enjoyed the interaction I had. I did notice when it was perched it was rocking back and forth for a bit. He eventually found a caterpillar and flew off. It was nice to admire this species at a relative close distance and not one singing atop a tall tree. This male was not banded.
