A flock of 30 Red-necked Phalaropes in alternate plumage photographed in flight by Curtis A. Marantz on 4 May 2024 over the inshore waters of the Catalina Channel 7 kilometers south-southwest of the Dana Point breakwater at 33° 23' 35.5" N, 117° 42' 31.9" W, Orange County, California.
Observation details
(the 95 phalaropes estimated during our first offshore leg of the trip by Marantz represented a somewhat higher number than the 60 recorded by Benson during this period)
