Media notes

NOTES: Songs. Recorded by Lucie Gunn. Background sounds: microphone at 2.28, 2.55, cable after 3.10. [This is essentially the song of the species, including both types of Regularly Repeated Vocalizations (RRVs; see Smith, W. J. 1969. Displays of Sayornis phoebe (Aves, Tyrannidae). Behaviour 33:283-322). About two-thirds of the 136 vocalizations represent RRV1s (there are 53 RRV2). In places, the bird alternates between the two, but in others, two to several RRV1s are given for each RRV2. There is also a single Locomotory Hesitance Vocalization at 2:11. Quality changed from 1-2 to 2-1 (though slighlty better before 2:06 than after) - CAM - 14 April 2005].

Additional species

  • Ruffed Grouse Bonasa umbellus
