Observation details
This plover was smaller and slimmer than a black-bellied plover with gold, black and white feathers on it’s back. It’s primary projection extended very slightly beyond the end of it’s tail. The PGPL had white on its flanks with spotted undertail coverts. It appeared to be in alternative (breeding) plumage, so it’s white cheek patch led me to believe that it was a female. This very camouflaged plover was in the fenced lagoon area between the beach and the trail. It was about 75 feet south of the fence that runs adjacent to the trail in vegetation or standing in shallow water, until it flew away towards Agromin. Photos will be posted.
