Two red-breasted nuthatches feeding from a residential, hanging bird feeder.
Observation details
Both were flying back and forth from a huge pine tree to my bird feeder on an apple tree. They are extremely fast flyers, wings tucking in fully to the body, very quick bouncy flight pattern. Paper red belly, grey back, black streak from the beak across the eye and a little into the neck. White stripes on either side of the black stripe. Very slender, pointy beak. Snapped a few photos.
