Observation details
Continuing bird back for its vacation on the Hudson hanging between Beacon and Newburgh first re-found by Bruce Nott in Beacon waters yesterday. Upon reaching the tip of Dennings Pt with the group, we quickly got on a driftwood log with four perched cormorants not too far south off the tip. In binoculars one bird was significantly smaller than the other three . Upon getting the bird in the scope, the stark contrasting white edging at the gape was easily visible . In recent days photos have showed the bird with white feather tufts on the side of face, which was also clearly evident through the scope views. Entire group had scope views, and took some poor digi shots as the log drifted south away from the point. Steve may have some better shots off his camera.
