Observation details

Light phase. Well studied in field and in trees. A very large light Buteo with creamy white breast and belly, with dark eye line, feathered tarsi, upper shoulders are rusty brown, white in upper wings seen in flight is diagnostic, tail mostly light coloured at the base with some light rusty terminal edges. Mouth has a deep posterior gape, has yellowish eyes, it’s raptor beak is two tones with yellow at the base and dark anteriorly. Stayed mostly on the ground, occasionally would fly up to tree and sit while being attacked by Blue jays. It would fly across edged tree line to other field and stay on the ground. It did this some 8 times. Seen yesterday and this morning. Refound here this pm by Gray Carlin. Many pictures and videos taken in adverse raining conditions. TBA
