Observation details
We were near the bridge below the Machigonne Street entrance, and the Red-winged Blackbird started to give its alarm call. At the same time, everything else went silent. A Cooper’s Hawk was flying through with two other birds circling higher above it: a Broad-winged Hawk and the Mississippi Kite. The Kite had a distinctive white head, clean lines, a squared tail and long, pointed wings. The Kite continued to circle, going higher than any Hawk I have seen, before pulling its wings in and making a beeline to the east. Seen with Ann T, Gabriel G, Richard G and Diane B.
