Observation details
Identification based on a combination of observed physical characteristics and spectrogram analysis. Whit calls in provided recording correspond to short, narrow frequency sweeps as opposed to the longer, more modulated calls of other possible Empidonax. GRFL discernible from DUFL by a generated image that is slightly higher in frequency and appears as a taller, straighter line. Please see https://youtu.be/-gSSex8zhqQ?si=vASUQfC7wkxagi7 for more information. Seen briefly following an extensive search after I heard it. Bill was small and appropriately shaped for DUFL, with limited orange at base (not larger and with a most orange lower mandible as with GRFL). Eye ring indistinct (so not WEFL). Forehead slope gradual (not HAFL). Grayish overall. Little contrast between wings and body. Tail pumped but not strictly downward phoebe style as with GRFL. Half way down the central paved path. Lifer! 38.1524768, -121.2889348
