Observation details
Heard "whit!" calls while birding the portion of the trail that goes along the north side of the park. Eventually saw an Empidonax moving around in a tree that was still mostly leafless (same tree that had a flock of Cedar Waxwings), with the flycatcher apparently foraging in the lower part of the tree. Showed an obvious eyeing, a relatively small bill for an Empidonax sp., gray face and wash on the breast, with no strong yellow tones on the underparts. The lower belly and upperparts were not seen well. A fairly compact, smallish, and relatively large-headed Empidonax.
