Parent flying off after delivering meal to young one. Think it the male as he tends for stay outside the nest when delivering food I have observed.
Observation details
Female perched in nest box opening most of day. Spotted the male perched nearby at noon where he remained until 7:50. The female flew off at approx. 7:55 pm, Trilling. Nearby Robins very vocal. At 8:02 a downy blob appeared in the nest box opening. First chick sighting with this pair this year. Last year they fledged 4. The chick bobbed and weaved waiting for a meal. Which did arrive at 8:08. The chick went back into the nest box thereafter. At 8:11 the female came back for a few minutes then flew off. At 8 :25 a chick appeared in the nest box opening again and went back in at 8:30. Too dark to continue to observe.
