Observation details
Putative adult female with no obvious markers of hybridization: yellow crown, black-and-white mask, gray throat, pale gray overall above with yellow wing patches. Observed in a mixed flock of warblers. After a few initial good views, I managed one unsatisfactory photo (TBA). After losing sight of the warbler, I remained and attempted to relocate it for about another ten minutes, without success. Addendum: Photo added subsequently to initial report is alone likely inadequate in proving or disproving possible hybridization as far as visual cues go, but the lack of yellow plumage in the image - apart from prominent, solid yellow wing patches consistent with 𝘝. 𝘤𝘩𝘳𝘺𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 - and certain features observed but not photographed (viz., dark gray throat, absence of yellow plumage other than on crown and wings) align with initial identification and remain incompatible with even the "most Golden-winged" crossbreeds like "Brewster's Warbler" ( 𝘝. 𝘤𝘩𝘳𝘺𝘴𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘹 𝘤𝘺𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢), to the extent genetic heritage can be surmised from field observations with any confidence. Q.E.D. (or not).
