Observation details
I spotted them while driving towards the F lot here: 38.53138° N, 121.59442° W. At first I wasn’t sure what they were due to high winds shaking my binoculars and them being obstructed slightly by vegetation, then they flushed up and I got a great look at their black and white contrasting wing pattern. I counted multiple times, hovering between 25 and 26. Joshua Greenfield arrived shortly after I had posted about them and showed me a path where we could view it better. With the much better view, we counted 29 total individuals.
