Observation details
Spotted earlier this morning by Ted G. on the grassy slope on the NE side of the runway. I saw it when I arrived at the normal airport viewing spot. It had moved to the grass between the runway and the taxiway, and was quite far away. I eventually got a good view of it. It was moving around from time to time, also had times when it was doing its version of tucking its head in (ie. I could still see the head, but the neck had disappeared). And then it edged up along the edge of the runway, and ran across at a brisk pace, and out of sight. I moved around to the north end of the runway and there it was on the NE slope. Best view for sure was when it was on the runway. Relatively large shorebird, long neck, rather short yellow bill darker at the tip, light side of face, dark eye, yellow legs. Never flew nor vocalized while I was there. I've never seen one of these before so very cool.
