Observation details
Observed a MALE and FEMALE species perched on a tree deep inside the forest. The MALE Rufous-necked Hornbill is distinctly identifiable by its bright rufous bushy crest, rufous head, neck and underparts. The upperpart is glossy black. Blue patch around the eyes. The bill is yellowish and heavy. The upper mandible has vertical black ridges. There is a scarlet gular pouch. The tail is black and white. The FEMALE is mainly black and has a characteristic red throat.
