Observation details
Alert posted by Karen Isett about Prothonotary spotted by Chapman Bridge. Given I was traveling past on errand stopped. Walking towards the bridge from the parking lot, I heard it's call coming from my left. Two Birders were looking with bins that direction but as I came closer to bridge I heard the same song on my right. I verified it's call with Merlin and stopped to look in the bushes on the right. The bird was on the water side moving through the bushes calling. It suddenly appeared about 10 feet away! It moved going up the trees calling out and then flew across the lake towards the path on the other side of the bridge. Continuing on to the spot where the birders had been, I spotted the other singing Prothonotary. Only a few glimpses of the singing bird it took off towards the overflow parking lot. What an experience to see and hear two with on no less than 10 feet away. Unfortunately, I had moved a setting on the camera and my photos are a shadow of the experience.
