Observation details
My thinking is that this is an Orange-crowned Warbler. I had opened Merlin to see if there were any high-pitched birds in the area as I have lost much of my hearing in that range. Along with WTSP, OCWA came up which I ignored but when it came up a 2nd time, I had heard part of the song. So, I started recording the calls with Voice Record Pro. I could never visually get on the bird other than a quick glance of a bird flying across the trail ~2 feet off the ground. I was able to hear the song ~3x but it is not one with which I have much experience, only a little bit in the West. The only other species that occurred to me is Palm Warbler. A year ago, in northern New Hampshire, I had Merlin telling me an OCWA was singing but it was actually a PAWA which I was watching so knew that there was not an OCWA in the area . . . which makes me suspect every time OCWA comes up on Merlin when I am birding in the East. Both recordings come across OK on my iPhone but the first one does not appear to have any sound on eBird. On that recording the spectrograms start at 2 seconds and 16 seconds. Any input appreciated!
