Observation details
This was a plump shorebird with black legs and fairly short, straight black bill. At first glance I thought semi-palmated sandpiper but I quickly realized it was much to big to be that. It was larger than the semi-palmated plover and nearly the size of the dunlin present. I have one pic with sanderling and semi-palmated plover together showing size difference. Heard, neck, back and upper breast were rusty colored. Underparts were completely white with no markings. It displayed a white wing stripe when flying. It ran rapidly from spot to spot while foraging. Sheer size of this bird eliminated semi-palmated sandpiper. On standing bird wings did not project past tail eliminating Bairds and white-rumped sandpipers. Pics will be added.
