Observation details
Continuing with Black Terns toward end of south jetty (gulf side). Feeding actively and passing quite close to the rocks. Completely dark brown except for pale upperwing panels and bright white cap, which ended abruptly before the nape. Long, thin, slightly drooped bill. Outer rectrices worn almost bare. Noticeably larger and longer-winged than BLTE. As I was watching the bird feed at about 6:25p, it suddenly broke away from the flock and headed low over the water around the tip of the jetty and then directly out to sea. I lost it in front of a distant buoy. Not sure if it doubled back, but I never saw it again, despite repeated scans
