Observation details
Like an immature male Hermit Warbler with clean unmarked yellow face with beady eye, mottled black on chin and throat -- but with an extensive yellow wash on the breast and flanks that I've never seen in Hermit Warblers. This seems to be one pattern regularly shown by this hybrid combination. Photos. For what it is worth, this bird was in the same pine tree as an adult male Hermit Warbler, and this bird readily came down to my pishing which the Hermit Warbler ignored. Perhaps that comes from its Townsend's Warbler parentage too!
