Observation details
Yesterday around 4:00 pm, I heard this bird singing. I was standing in a third floor dorm room that happened to be open, and I heard it through the window. It took a few moments for the reality to set in, and I did make an unhelpful recording through that window at that time (intense traffic noise unfortunately ruined it). I rushed down and tried to find it, but wasn't able to confirm. Today I dropped by again and soon heard it and then found it. It is clearly a vireo much like a warbling vireo, but with a very strong black line from behind the eye through the eye and into the lores. The crown is dark and the supercilium continues into the superloral area unlike in a warbling. The song is a sweet series of separated up-down phrases. I will make a sketch and submit. This bird I am reluctant to report, but technically it is in an accessible area. The university itself is off limits, but this bird is on the bridle trail immediately adjacent to La Mirada boulevard. Access could be gained without entering the university if you parked on the street across from the La Mirada Boulevard entrance (Oakwood Ln) and walked down the bridle trail. I will upload a recognizable recording of the song soon. 33.910159,-118.012059
