Observation details
Great yard find by Laura Stump!! Note - the bird has not been seen since 4/19. After reviewing photos of the Brambling seen in Colorado Springs from late Dec 2023 to early Feb 2024, and the one seen in Utah in March 2024, we believe this is a different bird. It's a bit less orange on the chest, the head is lighter, and this one has lighter cheeks, more like a female. Laura saw the bird briefly Wednesday and Thursday mornings, we saw it briefly today, Friday, and are confident with the ID. Photos. Orange throat, upper chest, and shoulder patches, dark eye, medium brown/olive head and back with black streak on crown, lighter collar at base of head, orange lower wing bar and white upper wing bar, white rump, white/light flanks with a few black spots. Beak was paler yellow w black tip and finch-shaped. Seems to follow the Cassin's Finches into the area they were feeding. Easily startled but appeared to be healthy.
