Observation details
*rare (in late June) | FOY; continuing bird found here yesterday by T. Aversa; lone shorebird at south manure pond; medium-sized sandpiper with long, greenish legs and medium-long, drooping black bill with slight bulbous tip (sometimes exaggerated by water droplet); dark barring on belly and undertail; dark eye-line with white supercilium; reddish highlights on crown and auriculars; the bird was not overly active during my observation, staying more or less in the same muddy patch; some preening and feeding and much standing around (on one or both legs), but all the while alert; at one point the bird crouched and appeared to be intently watching a high-flying RTHA
