Observation details
In flight only - flew across lake, circled back, and eventually flew off out of sight towards the west. Better views through binoculars originally, but then birds flew further out across the lake which made for horrible doc photos. Only in view for about 30 seconds before they were gone. Buffy brown birds with slightly upturned long bills, bodies and wings appeared to be mostly one uniform color except for slightly darker primary coverts compared to primaries (which can sort of be seen in the doc pics). They lacked any of the distinctive markings of a Hudsonian Godwit. Size was similar relative to a Ring-billed Gull that flew nearby, helping to rule out Dowitchers (along with the differences in color, plumage pattern, and beak shape).
