Observation details
Saw all 6 at once as the ran around on the mudflat foraging. They were noticeably larger than the peeps like WESA and LESA nearby. One was in full breeding plumage with streaked reddish head, neck chest and upper back with a white belly. Legs were black and bill was straight and black. The others were more in changing or no breeding plumage that was speckled black and white on back and wings with some black on head but mostly a white face and underparts. In flight these birds showed a much bolder white lengthwise wing stripe than the peeps did.
