Observation details
Crazy bird. I followed up an *almost* unbelievable ebird posting, and on arrival there was not a single duck in the flooded field. Things were looking bleak but I realized there was a small watch party going on further down the road. With Laura and Reinhard Vehring and some others we waited about 10 minutes, and sure enough Reinhard was the first to see it arrive hours after the initial find. So truly, all the credit belongs to those two for it yesterday! Thanks to them for sharing it and hanging around until other people got on it. I spoke to a local homeowner who mentioned they were sure they had been seeing it since last week. I’m not going to speculate about that, but I will say the Ipswich River system has extensive habitat to support this kind of bird for a while, and its close association with bwte and gwte could provide clues to its future whereabouts.
